Have you ever noticed that with some people, we can just pick up the conversation right where you left off? It doesn’t matter if days, weeks or years have gone by – you’re both in the same space/state in the relationship. Though time’s passed, the relative dynamic of the relationship has not changed. This is an interesting phenomenon and it happens in a number of places – at work, with friends, between brands and customers as well.
But, there’s something extra going on behind the scenes. It’s unnoticed and rarely thought about as well – both parties have matured equally – experienced life to the same degree. If there’s a difference in the extent to which the people have moved apart, the relationship is strained.
So, what’s the takeaway?
When you reinitiate relationships, either ease into the relationship and gauge the gap – or work hard to maintain the gap from the get go.
